Who Is Warwick Racing?

Based within WMG at the University of Warwick, Warwick Racing allows students to apply their academic knowledge to a real-world engineering project. From concept development to vehicle assembly and testing, team members work together to deliver a competitive Formula Student race car. Over the years, the team has continually evolved its vehicle designs, progressing from combustion-powered cars to successive generations of electric race cars. Students solve complex challenges and contribute to the future of motorsport.

The Car Type

Warwick Racing has more than 20 years of racing history, producing seven generations of combustion vehicles before shifting to electric power, with five EV generations built to date. Their most recent car, WRe5, launched in July 2026, features a full carbon sleeve, 10-inch magnesium alloy wheels, a redesigned suspension and corner package, and a custom-built Vehicle Control Unit. WRe5 secured 2nd place in acceleration and 9th overall at Silverstone. The team, based at WMG on the University of Warwick campus, has over 100 members and aims to be the first UK university to complete all dynamic events at Formula Student UK with a fully electric car.

Warwick Racing is made up of more than 100 students from a variety of academic disciplines, all working towards a shared goal. The team combines different skills and perspectives to create an environment where collaboration is at the heart of every project.
