New Machine. New Capabilities.

We are pleased to announce the latest addition to our calibration laboratory. As of yesterday, our capabilities in torque calibration have taken a leap forward with the implementation of a brand new, custom-designed calibration frame.

This advanced system enables torque application of up to 5000 Nm in both clockwise and anti-clockwise directions, with programmable control and dwell functionality to support precise, repeatable calibration in line with recognised standards such as BS 7882:2017.

Utilising an in-line drive assembly, torque is applied directly to the device under test, which is mounted to a reference torque transducer to simultaneously measure both applied and response torque. This ensures a high level of accuracy and confidence in calibration results.

Designed with flexibility in mind, the frame features an extended, adjustable table capable of accommodating devices up to 800 mm in length, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. The system also integrates seamlessly with our existing instrumentation, ensuring consistency across our accredited calibration services.

Delivered Safely to Our Facility

The process began early in the morning, with a specialist forklift team on site in preparation for the delivery. Once the lorry arrived, the torque calibration frame was carefully offloaded and positioned outside our facility, allowing for a thorough unpacking and inspection to ensure it had arrived in perfect condition.

Following successful checks, we maneuverered the system into the building and positioned it carefully. The entire process was carried out safely and efficiently. It's now our job to configure the machine and get ready for ongoing use.

What Does This Mean for Our Customers?

The introduction of our new torque calibration frame significantly expands the range of applications we can support. We are now able to accommodate higher-capacity devices and more demanding use cases, including components such as drive shafts, torque tools, and industrial assemblies. For our customers, this means greater flexibility, improved accuracy, and confidence that their equipment is being calibrated using advanced, purpose-built systems.

By bringing this capability in-house, we can also offer more efficient turnaround times and a seamless service across force and torque measurement, reducing the need for multiple suppliers and simplifying your calibration process.

Looking ahead, we are working towards offering accredited torque calibration in line with UKAS ISO/IEC 17025, complementing our existing accredited capabilities in tension and compression. This will provide an additional level of assurance, giving customers full confidence in the traceability, reliability, and quality of their calibration results.
