    Tension & Compression Load Cells

    Tension and compression occurs when a tensile stress is applied, then transforms to a compressive stress, or visa versa. The stress will go through the zero point were no stress is applied.

    Tension & Compression Load Cell

    The load cell will operate in tension only, compression only or tension and compression modes. This style of load cell can lead to more flexibility in future testing.

    To be aware of:

    1. How the force is going to be applied to the load cell. This is how you maximise your accuracy in the system.
    2. Mis-aligned forces can damage certain designs of load cells.
    3. Be aware of how the force and re-acting force is to be applied to the load cell. Refer to the sketch: Pg 2 bottom right hand side of the PCM data sheets.
