Load Cell & Strain Gauge Wireless Instrumentation
Wireless communication comes in three forms:
- Radio telemetry: Is a transmission of data from a remote source via a radio to a receiving station for recording and analysis.
- Inductance: Is a contactless method of supplying power to (in this case) a strain gauge bridge. The signal is then transmitted back to the electronics.
- Slip ring: Consists of a conductive band mounted on a shaft and is insulated from it. The wheatstone bridge is connected to the bands (usually four off). Fixed brushes or contacts make contact on to the bands to transfer power to the bridge and signal back to the static instrumentation.
Each method has its merits and is now a proven and reliable form of communication.
